FACELIFT
(RHYTIDECTOMY)
Aging of the face results in face/neck skin sagging. Heredity, gravity,
personal habits and sun exposure all contribute to aging.
A facelift is a surgical procedure that reduces sagging facial/neck
skin and helps the patient appear firmer and younger. As people grow
older, it becomes obvious why facelift surgery has become a very popular
facial cosmetic procedure.
All facelift surgery candidates must be in good health and have realistic
expectations.
Who
Is A Good Candidate?
Facelift candidates must understand that the overall goal is to improve
facial appearance. Age, skin elasticity, bone structure and individual
healing are important factors for facelift surgery. A facelift can be
performed on a patient in the age range of 30-80 years old.
At
your facelift consultation, the doctor will review the procedure, incisions,
risks, anesthesia, pre/post operative care and results.
The Surgery
Facelift surgery is performed as a day surgery in our fully equipped
surgery center with intravenous sedation. The facelift involves making
incisions on each side of the face in the temple region. The incision
continues in the front of the ear and around the ear lobes to the backside
of the ear, ending in the lower scalp. During the facelift, the skin
and underlying tissues are tightened. The excess skin and fat are then
removed. A drain is usually placed for the first 24 hours, and a head
bandage is worn for two days following the facelift surgery. Patient
my have mild bruising, swelling and pain after surgery. Patients are
advised to stay off work for 7 days after facelift surgery.
Every year, thousands of men and women undergo successful facelift surgery.

BLEPHAROPLASTY
(EYELID LIFT)
A
natural part of facial aging involves eyebrow sagging, upper eyelid
skin drooping and lower eyelid bulging and loose skin. The eyelid lift
(blepharoplasty) involves removal of excess fat and loose skin that
form around the upper and lower eyelids.
The
Surgery
The best candidates for an eyelid lift (blepharoplasty) are adults 18
years of age and older and in good general health.
During the initial eyelid lift (blepharoplasty) consultation, the doctor
will review the procedure, incisions, risks, anesthesia, pre/postoperative
care and results. Eyelid lift surgery (blepharoplasty) is performed
in our fully equipped surgery center under intravenous sedation. The
patient sleeps comfortably through the procedure and wakes up in the
recovery room without the ill effects of a general anesthetic. In upper
eyelid lift surgery (blepharoplasty), the incision is made in the natural
skin fold. Excess skin and fatty tissue is then removed. The skin is
closed with a very fine suture so that the incision is hidden in the
natural fold of the eyelid skin.In lower eyelid lift surgery (blepharoplasty),
the incision is made under the eyelash line in a natural crease. Excess
fat and skin are then removed before the incisions are close with a
fine suture.
After
The Surgery
After the eyelid lift surgery (blepharoplasty), you will notice mild
pain, swelling and possible bruising. Most patients return to work after
7-10 days. Eyelid lift surgery (blepharoplasty)can make a remarkable
difference in the appearance of your face, restoring a brighter, fresher
and more youthful appearance.
