Perlane/Restylane
The appearance of your skin depends, amongst other things,
on the substance hyaluronic acid, which gives your skin
volume. Aging, diseases and injuries are some of the
factors that weaken the amount and quality of hyaluronic
acid in your skin. Restylane and Perlane are the first
stable, biodegradable, non-animal hyaluronic products
available on the market today. Restylane and Perlane

The hyaluronic acid in Restylane is almost identical
to that present in the body, therefore your skin will
not react to the material. Also, since it is not made

Before The Treatment
During your initial consult, the doctor will cover all
areas of concern, including injection sites, volume
required, risks and pre/post injection care. No skin
testing is required prior to treatment.
Treatment
No pre-test is needed with Restylane, so the treatment
can be carried out in 30 minutes or less. Pain felt
during treatment depends greatly on the sensitivity
of each patient. A local anesthetic injection causes
minimal discomfort, and generally no other anesthesia
is needed for the treatment of wrinkles. Lip treatment
may require a local anesthetic which is administered
inside the mouth. The injectable filler is then injected
into the area in a steady, slow fashion, so as to produce
a smooth, uniform enhancement.
After Treatment
Patients are up and around immediately after treatment.
You may experience mild swelling, discomfort and bruising
in the treated area which will resolve in a few days.
We advise patients to take Tylenol and apply cold compresses
over the area. Allergic reactions are rare, but may
consist of prolonged redness and itching of the area.
Some cover up makeup can be applied immediately after
the injection to mask redness.
How Many Treatments Are Needed?
Since Restylane and Perlane are absorbable and biodegradable,
the enhanced treated areas will eventually return to
their normal state. Most patients choose to have a further
enhancement at 4-6 months.
